STREAM with STEVE: Take Flight
Time & Location
About the Event
STREAM topics covered: Principles of Flight, Aeronautical Engineering, Space Travel, Atmospheric Science, Natural/Man-made Forces, Technology/Social impacts, Measurement, Flight Simulation, Geometry, Angles, Engineering Design Process, Material Properties, Forces, Hands-on Tools and construction
Activities: Kids will build their own airplanes during the exploration of flight! Discovering the origins and history of flight from birds to the Wright Brothers and Space Travel, students will engage in the Engineering Design Process with experiments, demonstrations, and hands-on creation of their own flying machines. What allows humans to fly around the Earth and even the Universe?! That’s exactly what kids will learn in this teacher facilitated, interactive real-time virtual classroom. High level learning from research to hands-on experience takes place here.
Audience: 6-12 year old.
Pre-requisite research, imagination and gathering required. It’s always a great idea for engineers to research ideas on how to build what they want. So for this project, we encourage you to go online and find out how other kids around the world have explored and played with airplanes and other flying objects, using common items you might find around your home.
