About the Event

STREAM topics covered:  Structural Engineering, Forces, Balance, Measurement, Geometry, Material Science, Engineering Design Process, Natural Disasters, Social Technology impact, Hands-on tools and construction.

Activities: STEAM Campers will DESIGN and CREATE their own unique towers, collaborating ideas and sharing their work as imaginations turn into reality. First they will take part in demonstrations and experiments in Structural Engineering, Shape Science, and Materials Processing. Kids will collaborate on the history and social impact of tall buildings.  Then they will Engineer their own unique creations from home in a virtual, teacher facilitated classroom. Hands-on STREAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Math) will be in full force!!!  High level learning from research to hands-on experience takes place here.

Audience: 6-12 year old.

Workshop Research:

Pre-requisite research, imagination and gathering required.  It’s always a great idea for engineers to research ideas on how to build what they want.  So for this project, we encourage you to go online and find out how other kids around the world have explored and played with tall structures, using common items you might find around your home.

-Big question… How do towers stand so TALL???

-Show and Tell!!  Bring your own tall object share at STEAM Camp!!!

Tools and Materials:

-Paper, pen, tape, scissors, ruler, arts/craft supplies.

-One or more balls, any sizes.

-Optional Extras for more FUN!!!:  Fan or hair dryer, hot glue gun, cardboards, plastic bottles, -STEAM Camp always makes good use of recyclables.  Having more equals more Creativity.
